Mrs. SHAO, JINGQUN is from Guangdong Province of the People’s
Republic of China. She started learning Guzheng from the famous Master, Xu
Disheng at very young age, and was graduated from Guangzhou Music Institute
with highest honors. Mrs. Shao has been invited to perform Guzheng in many
countries and has won popular reception due to her unique playing style.
In Austin, She appeared as a soloist in concerts with the Austin Symphony
Orchestra, presented multi-cultural lecture concerts at UT, IBM, MOTOROLA ,
DELL corporations etc. During last two years, Ms. Shao performed for more
than 30,000 students in Austin. Many teachers called Ms. Shao “the Music
Ambassador” and "an indispensable addition to our diversified culture." Diana
Eblen, the Director of Education of the Austin Symphony emphasised that Ms.
Shao is a rare talented musician we need.
She has also been dedicating to the training of the younger generation. As
early as 1984, one of her students, Liao Zilan, has won the first prize at the
International Music Competition held in England. Mrs. Shao is the member of
the Beijing Guzheng Research Association of China.
Currently, she is the master teacher of Guzheng
at the "Shao Jingqun Guzheng Keshi" as well as
the Asian American Cultural Center in Austin, Texas.
