Austin, TX, March 16, 2007 –
MAP’s Spring Harmony Spring Festival offers a unique opportunity for
local audiences to enjoy more than 10 rarely seen or heard, traditional Asian instruments played by
both local and nationally recognized performers from diverse Asian cultural backgrounds, such as
Chinese, Japanese, Indian and Korean. The majority of featured instruments are of the Asian
stringed variety such as the Erhu—equivalent to a Western viola, Jinghu—equivalent to a Western
violin— as well other traditional and contemporary instruments. These instruments have been played
for centuries in over eight Asian countries.

This unusual stage show will feature 70 performers in a program consisting of music, dance and
martial arts. In addition to the concert, there will be an art exhibition of paintings, photography, crafts,
jewelry and silent auction. Food and drink along with a “Fresh Faces Project” photo booth will also be
featured at the festival.

"This type of concert seems only to reinforce Austin's reputation as the live music capital of the
world," says Cecilia Ling, MAP's founder. "It is an event where people can be exposed to diverse
musical traditions that they may have never realized existed right here in Austin."
